Would you believe we are anticipating an ice storm tomorrow? This weather just goes on and on. So meanwhile, I stitched something to make me think of warmer days. This design is "Primrose Maiden" by Laura Rimola, The Little Stitcher. It can be found in the April, 2015 issue of Just Cross Stitch Magazine. I finished it up into another little pouch for a spring tension hoop. This one is for the 4" size. The last one was the for the 6" size. It's stitched on scrap piece of 36" ct hand dyed linen. I had that rick rack already so I made use of it as well. Not much else stitchy going on so I took several photos to flesh out the post.
My sewing machine seemed to have a mind of its own today. Mine is an old machine with a knee-activated start and stop control. I don't think they use those much anymore, but they were very popular in the Stone Age when the machine was new. Today it seemed to get stuck and keep going after I released pressure. I had to pull it back by hand to stop the machine. Only happened when I was running the machine at high speed. Kind of frightening the first time is occurred -- like some weird scary movie. This may be a sign that it's finally time to consider an upgrade.

ReplyDeleteI love your newest pouch, Annie!! But, what a scary time with your sewing machine... It reminds me of a car I drove back in the 70s where the gas pedal got stuck in accelerate! It was terrifying, but my dad just shrugged it off and said it happened to him all the time :) Men!!!
ReplyDeleteI saw that little design in the JCS magazine at work the other day and definitely plan on stitching it myself (but with a change to include some blues :) I really love her designs...

Oh great, your new hoop pouch. The pattern you chose is so beautiful, just perfect for a day when it's snowy and cold outside. I love her little designs very much.
ReplyDeleteMost of our snow has melted by now, but you never know if there will be some new snow again. We are known to have heavey snow falls in the middle of March or even in April. But at the moment it's spring outside. I hope it will come soon for you as well.
Snow is one thing, but ice really stinks. Be careful!

Love the finish! Bummer about the sewing machine though. That would definitely be scary! High speed on a sewing machine and not stopping. Yikes! Hope the ice storm isn't bad. This winter is just too much. I'm so ready for spring.

ReplyDeleteI don't have the first clue what knee activated means. Huh. My sewing machine is a sub-$100 Walmart special from about 20 years ago. It's a White and still works pretty good. Little chunka-chunka-chunka sounding in the motor but it can still do a straight seam so I refuse to buy a fancier one. (We will not speak of the serger machine that has only made it out of the box once since I bought it many years ago. *ahem*)
Love your little hoop case Annie! It's so darling!! Oooh, sounds like it's time for a new machine. Having a mind of it's own isn't good if it's doing it's own thing!
