I found it more difficult than I expected. Planning the layout was complicated. I made a mistake in placement and had to improvise at the end for the construction. That's why you see the flap made from the lining fabric. I sewed the side seams by hand since they were kind of bulky. I think I might look for a different construction method if I were to do another one of these.
I used the free Quaker house design from Annie Beez Folk Art on the front and the Nesting Bird design from Aury on the back. The fabric is Vikki Clayton linen and the lining has a design of houses in case you can't see that in the photo.

Wow, awesome mail art! I'd be very nervous about mailing one naked too...my brother's ex-GF used to mail handmade cards in clear plastic envelopes. I'm going to look for some of those.

Congratulations on finishing your first mail art, Annie! Wow, you sure went to a lot of trouble. I'll have to figure out a way to post some clear instructions on the forum, or at least provide a link. I know how people feel about sending them as they are without some protection, but they do usually arrive intact, believe it or not. Fabric postcards disappear in the mail more than mail art envelopes. Maybe postal workers prefer to collect patchwork instead of cross stitch..
