Secret Snowdrift

With all the focus on snow in DC, I decided to stitch up a snowman ornament for Pumpkin's Project. This is a design by Trilogy called Secret Snowdrift. It's done on a piece of hand-dyed Aida from Enchanted Fabrics. I'm sorry to hear that Enchanted Fabrics is closing. She did such nice work at such reasonable prices. I've always had a problem with rickrack, but I like the look, so this time I hand basted it in place before machine sewing. I think that worked pretty well.



Looks like our snow will be with us for quite some time. Traffic is now a nightmare since people can get their cars out, but roads are still only cleared with a limited number of lanes. I have constant rush-hour type gridlock outside my home making it hard to get a car out of the driveway, and then adding 20 minutes to go four blocks. But I have made good use of the boots I bought after the first of the major storms back in December. Actually, I don't believe all of that first snow ever melted, before getting buried under the next series of storms.

    Such a lovely ornament.. I love the red ricrac around it..
    Be glad you have snow boots, here they are al sold out for weeks, I'm walking on the snowboots from Hubby, who are 5 sides to big....

    I love the ornie! I've not seen many snowmen that really call to me but this one does. I like how the design travels around.

    Great tip on basting! I'll have to keep that in mind when I get to the point that I can finish something! I love the ric rack too...the pop of read is a nice touch.

    Oh, it's perfect, Annie! I have never tried using rickrac as an edging, but maybe if I basted it first like you did, it would work out. I'd better get cracking--haven't even started on Pumpkin's project yet!

    What a pretty ornament!

    HTB was giving me the snow update. I work right off 270, so I don't do the side roads, nor have I mustered up the courage to try 355 yet. HTB was sputtering mad over how little was done, especially East West Highway.

    UGH, the snow is a mess to slog through, isn't it? I'm about 60 miles south of DC and we got horrendous amounts! Your ornie is beautiful and the ric rac looks perfect! Great boots too!
