This little freebie,
"Maison Fleurie" by Chantal Jordan, caught my eye and just cried out to be stitched. I had a lovely piece of pale pink hand-dyed Vikki Clayton linen that was perfect for it. Of course, my camera had other ideas about the color. The first image is closer to the pink color, but not nearly as pretty. I don't know where that little flaw in the center came from. It's not on the real thing.
I used to make these coasters all the time. I guess this kind of finish has gone out of fashion, but it's so easy to finish a design this way. The stitching is protected, and this particular type of coaster is large enough to hold a mug comfortably. I have a lot of these all over my condo.

You always track down the prettiest freebies, Annie! I really like this design--especially on the pink linen. I always planned on stitching my mom a set of hummingbird coasters--guess I'd better get to it if they're ever going to get done :)

These are hard to find. I think they are made in the UK and not distributed very widely on this side of the pond. I bought mine a long time ago.

They really are wonderful, light weight and easy to use. The ones you often see are much heavier, more like a paper weight. Those use a self-stick cork on the bottom. These just snap into place and work much better.
Love the design and have now downloaded it, and hope one day to stitch it. I love the colours and I have lots of coasters from long ago, in my stash. One day I will use them! Thanks for sharing.

Cameras tend to act out from time to time. Mine did and now is working somehow good again.

What a sweet, sweet finish! I've made a few stitched coasters - they're a great finish for small pieces. I think I might have to stitch this little design for myself, it's lovely.

It makes a great coaster. And if you ever get tired of it, you can always finish it some other way. Can't say that about some of the flat fold finishes people do nowadays.

The coaster looks wonderful! I don't finish that way because I can't find any coasters that actually fit a coffee mug and/or a glass.

Love your coasters!! They are definitely nicer than the octangular ones which as you said, are much heavier and bulky. I do have three of them as I use them on my wooden side tables. They sure do come in handy, so I think I shall be looking to make a few for Christmas gifts. :)
