Sneak Peek Summer Tin #2

The great rain streak of 2016 has finally been broken here and we've had some sunny days.  Unfortunately, my photos for this post were taken when it was still pretty dreary outside so they may not show up so well.

I completed the second tin for the Trilogy Summer Sneak Peak pair.  The universe was with me on this one.  I was browsing in Joann's fabric store for something completely different when I stumbled upon this narrow ribbon with a watermelon slice print.  I could hardly believe it.  How perfect a trim can you get?  And coupled with the polka dot tan that kind of gives the flavor of the basket, I think it really enhanced the design.  This one contains the flash drive with the whole cast of Peanuts characters.

One of the members of the 123 Stitch Message board suffered a serious health problem recently.  Board members banded together to shower her with get-well cards.  I had stitched up this old Chessie and Me freebie some time ago and never used it.  I thought it made a nice, cheery card.  Hoping she recovers quickly.

And the mystery of Ele's ABC SAL has been revealed.  She is doing numbers on the final three squares.  This may make my placement on cubed pin cushions a bit tricky, but I'm not going to let that spoil the fun.  No changes from Ele's design on this.  Only two more to go!

love those tins, and the perfect finishing touch. It's always good to have stitching on hand to make up cards, you never know when you'll need them and they're always special to receive

Normally we get a fair amount of rain this time of year but not so much this year. Funny how that happens.

The ribbon you found couldn't be any more perfect. I love it when that happens! Of course, your Altoid tin finishes are always the best!

Glad the rain stopped. Are you going to get some from this tropical depression?? Love the tin finish! That trim is so perfect! Beautiful card too -- I know the recipient will love it. Aha on the ABC SAL. Now isn't that sort of cheating? lol! It will be a fun finish when your cubed pin cushions are finished!

I am really loving your tins! This one is wonderful and I'm starting to think about making one of my own. And such a great idea to place a thumb drive inside. I mean, who doesn't need some of those.

I love your tin! And you are right; that watermelon trim is perfect! I love the idea of doing something like this but don't think I would have the patience. : ) And I love the card you made. You always do such a lovely job. Sweet little number square! We got a very brief reprieve from the rain (due to return this evening) but unfortunately it was replaced by a three-day heat wave. :)

You finished another one of these lovely fun pieces. And you are right, you couldn't have found better ribbons for it. I just love it.
Your get well card for the fellow stitcher is another great finish. She will love it. I also have a little stock of small finished pieces that can be easily made into cards. It's so nice to just pull out one that is suitable and make it into a card.

Don't you love it when you find that perfect finishing accent? Your watermelon ribbon is adorable and I just love your latest tin finish, Annie. I can almost taste that steaming hotdog, the griller is holding up :)

I know the ill message board friend will appreciate that cute stitched card--very thoughtful of you...

Sorry to hear about all your rain--I hear you're getting more, too because of the hurricane. We had a bit yesterday, but it cooled things off and today is lovely. Picnic time!! Enjoy your holiday, Annie...

I do love the watermelon braid! I am a sucker for those cute braids, and find it hard to resist buying a yard/metre of whatever takes my fancy at the craft fairs. Our local quilt shop has some too, and I couldn't walk out the door without buying a length of their Elvis braid :-)
Well you do come up with some nifty ideas! Who would have thought of hoop covers?? As soon as I get the two hundred current projects done, I would like to make some to cover my hoops..
