Ezmeralda from the top down..

I've been gradually constructing Ezmeralda's House by Brightneedle from the top down. I started in December, but since this is a larger project than I usually tackle, I've just worked on it intermittently swapping in more small projects. This house turns out to be really great fun to stitch. With the exception of the border, there are really no long boring areas to slog through. And the details are just so much fun. I'm using light coffee 32 count linen from Vikki Clayton, but the color is really not very true in the photo. The whole thing is much more light brown. The designers suggested that one stitch the whole house frame first. That to me sounded like a recipe for frog legs! I fill in as I go and it's proved to be a good decision. Lots of touch points to check your work along the way.

Cute, cute, cute, Annie! I love all the little details in this one especially the "LaBooTique" shopping bag stashed up in the attic. I wonder what the witch has hiding in it? Beautiful stitching!

That looks wonderful so far. I'm disappointed that BN seem to have taken a designing break (or retired completely?), as their designs are so intricate.

It looks so cute! I have to agree with you that stitching a border first is always a recipe for disaster. I think the way you're going it is the best way!

This is so cute. I especially love the socks hanging out of the drawer. Doing all the border would just be too scary to me too. I think you're taking a really smart approach by filling in the frame of the house along the way.

What fun to see each detail emerge! Not too scary a place - quite cozy if you are a witch!

Very cute!
Depending on my mood I either stitch frames as I go, or at the very end. But stitch it at the start sounds like a recipe for frogging to me too!

That looks spooky wonderful! Even though I'm not a Halloweenie person, I love the design.

You're right is better filling it, I too need to develop a sense of accomplishment as I go.
