Four Seasons T-Shirt

I wanted to give waste canvas a try to see if I could cross-stitch a design on a T-shirt. I thought that had good gift potential. Turns out to be very difficult to get the stitches looking even. I started with a little summer design by Mausimom on the left. Since I didn't like the result too much, I figured I would continue doodling on the shirt for the practice. So I stitched all four seasons with a kind of odd lay-out since I hadn't planned on doing this originally. I will say that the act of removing the waste canvas threads turned out to be an oddly soothing activity. I expected that part to be the worst. Took this pic with my new camera. A scanner would have revealed way too much in the way of crazy stitching. But you can click on the image to see an enlargement.

I'll use it for Jazzercise or a night shirt. It's a men's XL, not meant for regular wear anyway.

That is wicked cute Annie!
Um, where are the sins? I can't see them. I even clicked to enlarge it....

Angela, if I scanned the image, you would see how un-even some of the x's are. The enlarging of this photo from the camera doesn't let you get down to that level of detail. This T-shirt is best viewed from a distance by near-sighted people like me.

Stitching on waste canvas - especially when the garment is something stretchy, like a T-shirt - is kind of difficult, IMHO. I've done it for our kids. I think this looks terrific.

It looks great!

When I use waste canvas on a stretchy material I put fusible web interfacing on the back before stitching. It helps keep the stitching area from stretching and secures the stitches. Don't know if that would help or not.

That looks pretty good!!! I have some waste canvas I want to use for stitching T-shirts too, figured it might be easier than the method I used, with ugly aida lol But my stitches are uneven too.

Anyway it's very original, congrats!!!

Well, being nearstighted too... ha ha ha. It should be called the distance dreamer, to be worn at night and from a distance. Lol, It still looks great! :)

well, at night you would not see the x`s.
but i like it to, i find it great and would like to try it also, but althou i have glasses, bad stitches are bad stitches and they are irritating everytime you look at them.

Great idea with the waste canvas. I have only used this once on a t-shirt for my one daughter years ago.... must give it a go again.
